24-Hour Market

24-Hour Market
The Forex market is a continuous 24-hour market that opens in New York at 5:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon Eastern Time (ET) and closes Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. in New York.

Since the Forex market has no central location, such as the New York Stock Exchange at 11 Wall Street New York, New York, it is comprised of a global electronic network of banks, financial institutions, and individual traders that are all involved in the buying and selling of national currencies.

This exciting market also allows you to be profitable in rising or falling markets – something not enjoyed in stocks.

Any time of the day or night in any country there are exchange markets working around the clock beginning in Wellington (NZ), crossing time zones in Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Frankfurt-on-Main, London, and New York.  For the individual trader the attraction becomes the ability to trade according to your schedule while at home or at the office. For example, if you live in the United States you may choose to trade at any time during the following sessions:

  • New York: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tokyo: 7:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
  • London: 3:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
